Water and getting lost. Survival Instinct.
.
Water should be your first priority after spotting a location for your camp. In a survival situation, it is as important to retain fluids as it is to replace them. First look for in the form of a river or stream near your camp. When you find water in the outdoors, you have to boil, or treat the water before you can drink it. You can use a boiling pot to clean the water, or if you came prepared, water purification tablets that you put in the water that kills harmful germs and bacteria. (water purification) The worst feeling in the world is the feeling of being lost. So, if you are lost, and unable to stay put until rescue arrives, you will need to plan a route that you can remember where you came from and get to where you’re going. Get to high ground and survey the area. Try to locate waterways and follow them downstream if possible because water always travels south. You should mark your trail as you go, with markings on a rock or a broken tree branch in case you need to backtrack. If you are lost without a compass, there are a few ways to tell direction. You can tell which way is south if you wear a watch by taking the hour hand and pointing it in the direction of the sun and making a perfect right angle with the 12th hour. Then cut the right angle down the middle, and this points South! – www.waterfordpress.com
