There are many aspects to survival. Here we are going to start with some basic knowledge on wilderness survival and discuss some basic tools of the trade that can make it easier for you in an emergency, or first-aid disastrous situation. Wilderness survival, and first-aid go hand in hand because they are both things that you have to know, when there is no one there to help, when there’s no one there to call and you have to do it yourself. (first-aid gear) It is a horrifying situation for most people, to be in a crisis situation and not have anyone around to help. We’re going to start with the basics. The first step in a crisis is “Don’t Panic”. You will significantly increase your chance of survival by forcing yourself to stop, calm down and carefully evaluate your situation. Taking the time to settle down and evaluate your emergency situation is the most important first step toward increasing your chance of survival. the second step is “treat injuries immediately”. Treat injuries as soon as possible to avoid potential complications. Clean and bandage wounds. Do your best with the resources you have and mentally prepare yourself to cope with pain. Next, “find shelter”. Find cover from the elements. First, don’t camp under dead trees; limbs might fall off in a storm. Second, don’t camp where insects thrive, including wet or moist areas. Choose higher ground where breezes will keep the insects at bay. Next, “build a fire”. In addition to the psychological benefits, a fire can be used for signaling, purifying water, cooking food, and warding off insects and predators.
